A Look Back on 2014

Published: 01/12/2015

It's always important to look back on what happened in the last year to learn where we're headed this year. As your SEO company, our job is to make sure your website is always positively influenced by any change that Google may roll out. That being said, here's a compiled list of what changed the game for 2014:

  1. Pigeon (July 2014)

    • Pigeon is an algorithm that dramatically altered the way we see the local listings. Google now says that your location has an impact on where you show up on the listings.

  2. Authorship Photos (June 2014)

    • Google dropped all authorship photos from the search listings.

  3. Authorship (August 2014)

    • Following the removal of all authorship photos, Google completely remove authorship markup from the search listings.

  4. Panda (May & September 2014)

    • The Panda algorithm is designed to keep spammy sites from reaching the search listings. These were updates #26 and #27.

This list is only a small example of the dozen of changes that Google implements each year. We're dedicated to providing you with the best SEO experience possible and keeping up with all the changes that happen throughout the year.
